In his first press conference as President-Elect, and first in almost six months, Donald Trump acknowledged that the Russian government was involved in the hacking of the Democratic Party during the 2016 campaign. “As far as hacking, I think it was Russia,” Trump explained. “I knew it all along but just recently shared my findings with the intelligence guys.” After meeting with Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, FBI Director James Comey, CIA Director John Brennan, and NSA Director Admiral Mike Rogers last week, Trump said that he felt they had all been sufficiently brought up to speed. “Now that they know what I know, they’re good.”
Trump also acknowledged that the September 11, 2001 collapse of the World Trade Center towers was an act of terrorism. “As far as the World Trade Center, I think it was radical Muslims,” Trump explained. “I first thought it was shoddy foreign construction that made the buildings fall down, and I’m not saying that it wasn’t, but clearly there were some hijacked planes involved and Muslims. Very bad guys.”
There was no word on whether President-Elect Trump shared his knowledge of Senator Ted Cruz’s father’s involvement in the assassination of John F. Kennedy with U.S. Intelligence officials.
